I'm new here, and I just found TNT Basic two days ago, and I am pretty excited about it! I mean it's a Game programming system utilizing the only programming language I can comprehend! Thank you, TNT! Anyway...

What sort of limits would we have when creating games?

For examples:

Would it be possible to recreate the original Super Mario Brothers game?

How about Super Mario World complete with slower moving backgrounds and faster foregrounds (Like trees that you walk in front of. The SNES had the ability to have layers that could move at different speeds to eachother.)

What are the limits on how big a canvas can be or the file size of a sprite or MP3 or how large the application can get when compiled?

Just so many questions I want to ask. I have so many ideas that I've wanted to make real for years!

From what I've seen I'd say yes.You should be able to pull this off using the graphics tnt-basic supports.

Well, if this can do SMW type graphics, I'm set! My ideas should be a breeze!

Thanks.

Now.. to get my ideas on paper.. uh, I mean in the code window.

Is there a limit to how many maps we can make?

I mean, I'm thinking big. I may want to make a game with hundreds of screens (Maps) but don't want to suddenly run out one day.

Oh, BTW, this is Jasoco@Jasoco.com.. It's much easier to type J and have "Jason Anderson" pop into the box than t keep typing in IE. ;-)

Limits

You can create as many maps as you want, however TNT Basic project files are limited to 16Mb at the moment due to restrictions on the HFS and HFS+ file systems that we only recently became aware of.

However, this only tends to affect users of lots of mp3s or uncompressed graphics, but it's worth knowing.

We'll remove that limit with a future version of TNT Basic.

Cheers

Mark
