The map editor Genesis is all very fine and splendid and only occasionally terribly confusing, and that is usually when I switch to photoshop by mistake and am to tired to notice. Here is something, though: There is no option for isometric maps or overlayed tiles, in the Genesis map editor. Seeing as my game is an isoetric RPG (at least outside of battles) it would be really handy to use an isometric grid, and the ability to overlay scenery will add variety. If you have ever sampled The Games Factory on the Whendoes PC (by Francois Lionet, no less), you will see what I mean from the level editor: simple and powerful. Sadly the rest of the program was bug laden and restrictive, but the level editor... ah, bliss (for people like me, anyway). Adding isometric tiles (or even better, a rotating 2.5D map (I can dream)) and overlapping scenery might be a big piece of work, but I would greatly appreciate it.
