Hi, I just downloaded the TNT Basic 1.12 build to use the Hieroglyph editor but everytime I start it I get a message that states:

Hieroglyph cannot start as there are no resource file browsers installed.
Hieroglyph needs a resource file browser in order to open a resource file.
Please reinstall "Default Browser"

I am running Mac OSX 10.2.6

Can anyone please tell me how I can resolve this problem to get the program to run.

thanks

OK, after you unstuffed TNT Basic, did you delete move or rename any file from the TNT Basic folder?

No i didnt not rename any files.

i downloaded the sit file on my imac running 10.1.5 and it worked fine.

Could this be because I only have mac osx installed on my laptop?

On my imac I have both 9.2.2 and osx.

I am also having some kind of problem with heiroglyph resource
files. It WAS OK, but now when I try to open my file, Heiroglyph launches normally, but now comes up with the error: 'The resource map of this file is inconsistent with the operation.' TNT seems unresponsive when I try to execute the code. Do you know how the file could have became corrupt so quickly? The difficulties started only a short while after creating it and I have not had any problem like this before, could it be down to my system (OS 9.0.4)?

thanks,

That's not the same thing. It means your file is probably damaged. This bug mostly occurs if your computer crashes when esditing a map I think. Open your file in ResEdit to fix the problem. You will be asked to saved a save. This file will be fixed. If in any case ResEdit cannot fix the file, I hope you have some backups because there isn't much to do ( as far as I know ) !

The no resource browsers installed things happens if Hieroglyph can't find the 'TNT Basic Browser' plugin in the 'Hieroglyph Blocks' folder which should be in the same folder as Hierolgyph. If you've deleted this folder or renamed anything or it's got broken, or Hieroglyph has been moved without the folder then you'll get this message. If you don't know what's happened just download it again.

The resource map is inconsistent thing means your file has died. You can sometimes save it using ResEdit. Open the file in ResEdit while holding down the option key on the keyboard and it will try and repair it.

Cheers,

Mark
