I'm aware of the basic function to set the transparent color for the sprite(1bit transparency) from the graphics tab.

My question is there a way to attach/select/specify a separate image to be used for an alpha mask(8bit transparency)?

Hi, eLL... I'll answer the easy way and point you to another discussion where someone asked the same basic thing:

I hope that helps; basically what you do is paste the image you want to use as your transparency mask (alpha layer, whatever) into the mask section of the image info palette.
