As a novice in game programming I think I can safely ask is using a "map" of some sort - Genesis, or another flavor - necessary for progamming sprites that collide with various results? I notice that both Networking Example and Bang On! use a map.

Is TNT Basic User Guide and TNT Basic Help available in a book?

First, map are used if your game needs a map :) i mean you don't need a map to do a space shooter but you need one to do a tile-scrolling RPG. BangOn! uses it to specify where the tiles are located ( the tiles are the squares your character may step on , althought you can specify tiles to do other actions )

There is no TNT book, but you can go in the learning section of tntbasic.com and then printing everything. ;)
