Anyone thought about making a 'worms' type clone.

That's Team17 Worms - not Nokia Snake 'Worms' of course :-)

There was a version many years ago on the Atari ST called 'Battlezone' and written in STOS, the Atari's version of AMOS.

As TNT is 'loosely' based around AMOS, I'm assuming it's possible - but lack any sort of TNT experience to have a shot myself.

... well I did some serious net searching and found these :-)

The actual Worms icons, graphics, logos etc.

Bit naughty that - methinks if those are used, severe wrist slaps would be in order.

heh yea that would be a bit naughty

I think someone made a worms clone for pocketpcs, but used snails instead...and called the game, you guessed it snails.

It would be cool to make a clone, but then make it slightly original like those guys did.

Worms,

OK, so far we have myself (no_frills@blueyonder.co.uk), and MacFixation who are interested in making a Worms type clone.

Between us we have sort of 'bare minimum' TNT experience, I mainly use METAL Basic at the minute, although have used about a dozen or so languages and so don't see a problem porting what I know over to TNT (famous last words if ever I heard them).

Any other people interested, e-mail either myself of MacFixation - and we'll see where we go from here.

I can't do graphics for squat, so someone to do those would be a big help. And sounds also...

Maxfixation - e-mail me with site details etc please.

The sooner we get to work on this baby, the better.

seems like the whole world thinks it's a good idea - I'm only surprised no-one has done it before.

Site.

We'll start with a Yahoo! Group until I can get a better service started.

Another option is using the forums in my site: Macfixation.com

Do you think we could turn this group into a shareware software company?...it could work with nice results, maybe we could be where freeverse software is one day.

Yahoo! Group is online.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wormsclone/ if you are on the team, go and request membership. You need a Yahoo! ID i beleive, so get one.

If you aren't on the team, go there and request membership. THe group name isn't creative because we dont have a software co. name yet.

How about I set us up a hotline server? It would work a lot better than yahoo. We could send code and images easily and not have to use user names like stosh5485.....Hotline is an excellent tool for things like this.

I already have a hotline server setup, and its always online. I use it for art school cause they wont let us store anything overa hundred megs on their server.

... the 'place' to be...

well, as MacFixation got there first, lets use the Yahoo forum for chats and ideas etc, and the Hotline server for actually storing and downloading the files.

Is this OK with everyone?
