Well, at last its up for y'all to try if you want. ;-)

Try it - how does it work on your system?
You will need a newish Mac, at least G3.

Please post your opinions ;-)

(anybody else got iDev entries to show?)

Perhaps there should be a new section to the forum
for "announcements"?

uDev and Whales...

It's October already? Guess I better stop doodling 'conceptual art' and do some meaty TNT coding before uDev's mid-November door bolts shut. Also time for me to shape up and register TNT!

I liked Mobius Whale Wars -- for some reason it reminded me of that old Robotron 2084 game, albeit with smiling whales and ricocheting crustaceans instead of mean androids and hapless people. Neat stuff, and cheerful too, with level after level of chaotic sprite-flinging action.

I think I'll go check out the new version... with new music, you say? Cool. Whales *have* been known to sing, I've heard, but their CDs invariably end up in the 'New Age' rack next to pan flute masterworks and didgeridoo atmospherics. :)

Good luck with the game. It's got verve!

Nice

This game is original and entertaining. The graphics are well drawn and the music has a nice sound to it.

I reviewed this game on the Game Makers' Garage, the review should be up today or tomorow.

Thanks for comments and opinions! ;-)

Thanks for comments and opinions! ;-)

Workin' on a new version right now.
It's just a matter of what i have time to add before
the end of the uDev contest....

the "premature ending" you're getting on Beta 101
is caused by that version ending after level 9.
(beyond level 9, all kinds of weird graphics errors.)

The more finished version will have from 10-20 levels,
with 3-5 bosses... haven't worked out all the
organization of it yet.

BTW - You have a good eye,
Robotron 2084 (and smash TV) are some of my favorite
classic games - i wanted to get a bit of their
maniacal "countless enemies" flavor in the mix.

Future Basic

Actually Astrosquid led me to investigate futurebasic. I'm sticking with TNT though. Future basic's language just seemed so strange. It didn't stick to any of the standards I'd accumulated from C, Hypercard, Basic, or Flash, or anything!

For example, declaring an int was not done by typing "int blahblahblah", and there were all sorts of weird things like "long if...". Too weird for me.

Yeah, must admit I liked it also. ;-)
Stiff competition for us, creating "console style shooters"...

Future Basic, eh?
But it sounds confusing... which is just what makes me
unable to grasp C++ ;-)

TNT is a great language with a LOT of potential -
I'll stick with it.

Languages

I'm actually starting to move away from TNT now (I know! The horror!) I'm using C, GLUT, and OpenGL. Expect 3D games from me in the future :)

Oh yeah, and I have a definant feeling now that someone using TNT will win in uDev :)
