Accessing rescources from outside files?
(Such as picts, SNDs)

Could be usefull,
for such things as "skinable puzzle games",
"level sets" and large external music files...

Congrats on V1.03 - viva TNT! ;-)

External resource files

Our file commands need updating, when we do so we'll add support for external resource files for 'skinable' games, and game plug ins (like EV allowed plug ins for example).

We hope to get this done soon!

UGH! I just typed the whole thing then hit that danged Clear button! UGH!!!

Anyway, I was saying how my game which would be a game based on a show on the Game Show Network and would need to load Text strings from an external file. (The strings would contain the questions and answers or other stuff) The file should be binary in that people couldn't just use TextEdit to read the strings and cheat at my game. Also, I'd need to be able to load external image resources.

I propose a Package format where you could dump all your resources like images, text strings and the like and load them through the game. Clean and easy. This way, we could release update .pkg files full of resources or add ons to the game or such.

This would mean worlds of possibilities for the future of TNT Basic games!

And you could release a special tool to create these packages and text files full of strings. The TNT Package Viewer/Editor.
