I was playing around with TNT Basic on an iBook
with OS X on it, and sprite graphics tend to flicker
and look pretty bad- I imagine you guys are probably
aware of this bug, but if not, it makes TNT games look
like complete garbage under X (running under classic
mode makes it work fine.)

Thanks,
A. Ni

don't blame these guys

One has to blame Apple and ATI for not bringing out new drivers for Mac OS X so users who have the ATI chipsets older than the Rage 128, can actually have decent displays like under 9.

This is not TNT Basic's fault... The program works fine on Rage 128 and above under X, so you have to look at the older chipsets as the culprit.

Under 9, this is not an issue. Send an email to Apple and ATI telling them you want drivers for the older chipsets like in the iBook.

How do I know this? I have a 300 MHz Tangerine iBook...

Same thing with nvidia

I have a G4/450 MP with a Geforce 2 MX (Apple) video card, and I have the same results. Unplayable with Mac OS X.

Strange...

Hmm... I've been running TNT Basic on an old iMac (rage 128), PowerBook G3 (rage mobility 3) under OS X without any problems for some months now.

John runs on a new iBook and a G4 cube, he's never had any problems either. It must be certain cards I guess.

Keep the reports coming in, please accompany them with the system version (ie 10.1.3) and the type of graphics card.

Thanks,

Mark

Same here with a G4/450 MP and a Geforce 2MX AGP card with Mac OS X 10.1.4 et 10.1.5.
This bug is here for a long time now, perhaps it would be time to make something for it..
I can help you with debuguing if you want. I have a lot of Mac to test with : G4/450 MP with Rage128, iMac LCD, iMac CRT, new and old iBook...

Flickering

Hi there,

I'm looking into this now - I can only think of one thing it could be. I'll try a different way of blitting graphics to screen under OS X and be in touch with Yoc (and anyone else who wants to help) with a patch.

Thanks for the feedback!

Mark

I'm having this problem with 1.1 on 10.2. I'm using a Beige G3 300 with a PCI Radeon. It goes away, though, when I set it to Graphics Mode Hardware.
