I'm new to programming. Will this be the same concept for the TNT Basic?

I'm not sure, are you thinking of buying the book and you want it to be much like TNT Basic?

Cocoa/OpenGL is kind of easy and has somewhat the same concept as TNT Basic.

if you want to learn to program in C++: yes

if you want to program specifically in TNT: no

if you don't know the difference:
C++ is for pros and very serious people. can take years to master, though when you master it there's pretty much nothing you can't do
TNT on the other hand is for beginners and hobbyists, it's much easier to get a game done in TNT, however you're limited to the features it offers

my first programming book:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1565294394/sr=8-1/qid=1149636538/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-9540643-0876022?%5Fencoding=UTF8

c++ is a little off topic for tnt basic, but if you want to learn some of the basic consepts found in tnt basic and c++, while also getting a little advanced you could try :

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0131103628/qid=1149636705/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-9540643-0876022?s=books&;v=glance&n=283155

and when/if you finally are ready for c++, might i recomend:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0672326973/qid=1149636800/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-9540643-0876022?s=books&;v=glance&n=283155

hope that helps.
